An eCommerce is sure a huge part of the internet today. Online stores have evolved on such a scale that they have become one of the easiest resorts to make purchases. With eCommerce’s growth and popularity, the shopping cart is a crucial element on your site.

Online retailers have been pondering on how to optimize the shopping cart UI. What basically makes a good shopping experience online? A classic shopping cart is a key piece of the shopping experience, and it does have a surprisingly huge impact on the key metrics of the platform.

In this post, we’ll share some of the most promising shopping cart patterns and some of our awesome examples.

Navigational Shopping Cart

Your potential users will have their first sight on the navigational cart as they explore and shop. It is usually an icon that can be found in the navigation bar, showing the number of items it holds. The navigation cart icon can be a helpful ally if you want to encourage users to shop more or to check out quickly. You can add some brief animations or other visual cues to draw attention to it and cause users to seek checkout faster.

Display Number of Items

Using a shopping cart as a marketing strategy to trigger customer’s buying behavior is another thing you can try. Some users might feel encouraged to place more things in an empty cart – and so, by showing a zero in the cart icon we can trigger that.

Call To Action

A floating CTA button can make a huge difference to users. The designer needs to allow the user to review the items in their own time, but linger your users with a recalling CTA checkout button. It has to be clickable – and this touches on several aspects of button design.

Cart Icon Location

The classic location of the cart icon is at the top right corner (usually, inside the navigation bar). As the designer behind a brand new platform, you have two ways you can use this information to your benefit – take benefit of the familiarity and place it at the top right corner or knowingly swim against the mainstream and place it across your site.

Cart Detail Page

The shopping cart page is often the last stop users make before the checkout. It is also when that users will go through the items on their cart, and make the real-time decision to keep things, remove things, or abandon the entire shopping process. You must include all the important information while giving users freedom and control over the cart. Here are some basic aspects the shopping cart design needs to account for:
